| | 5 / 10 4. Hair styling products
Using hair products can affect the skin on your face as well as your scalp, creating what is known as "pomade acne." If you're regularly getting breakouts around your hairline and on your forehead, this could be the culprit. Thomas-Minns warns that hair products (especially styling waxes and gels) contain ingredients that can seep into the follicles and cause spots. The good news is that this type of acne can disappear quickly if you lay off the offending product.
Spot-busting tip: Keep hair products away from your hairline and forehead to minimize breakouts in those areas. If you have bangs, remember that their direct contact with your forehead can make your acne worse, so avoid applying styling products on your fringes.
